Question:

RAD and CSTD comparison?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

Lots of people are asking questions about RAD and CSTD exams and saying that CSTD cuts two years because they go only up to grade 6 and RAD goes to grade 8. I am currently doing my Advanced Theatrical in CSTD, which is 2 exams after grade 6, so it goes just as far as RAD, but changes to pre advanced and advanced for the last two grades. I take an open RAD class (not an exam class). Can anyone else tell me more about CSTD and RAD??

Thanks

  1. Well I know a fair bit about RAD. RAD does NOT only go up to grade 8. There is an actual system:

There is one pathway in RAD up until grade 5. Then there is the option of doing Vocational or Non-Vocational. Non-Vocational grades are 6,7 and 8.Vocational Grades are Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2 and Solo Seal Award. The Vocational  grades include pointe work. People looking at a proffesional career in balelt generally do the Voc exams, or botht he Voc and non-voc.  This is my understanding of RAD - although i dont actually take it myself. From the CSTD website, i have gathered that the grades go up to grade 6. Then you go into the major grades of sub elementry, elementry, and Intermediate. After that i believe you can take teaching courses/qualifications of:

    Teacher's Certificate

    Full Teachers Diploma

    Martin Rubenstein Award

    Premier Danseur
