  1. Hello Old Bean.

Yes you can wear glasses as long as the correction is not greater than minus 7 dioptres or + 8 dioptress in any meridian. Colour blindness is not a bar to service but may limit career choices. At the end of the day it is dependant on the proposed employment and trade group suitability for enlistment is determined by selection medical staff only. Also if you have had Laser eye surgery in the last or in your case next 12 months you will be considered medically unfit.

Be honest and be yourself at the interview as you cannot

build your career on a lie.

    Good Luck

  2. Yes you can wear glasses. If you want to go aircrew then there are limits for your vision, but I know fast jet pilots who wear specs so don't let that put you off. There are plenty of other trades in the RAF though which don't have as stringent levels for eyesight. Interview wise, decide on what you want to do and gen up on that subject. If your going engineering for example, then look down that route and do your homework. Like previous answers, be honest. They will ask about your hobbies, interests, clubs that you are a member of etc. Best bet is to go to your local AFCO (RAF recruiting office) for an informal chat.

    Good luck

  3. 1. I believe so, yes. Apparently Prince William wears glasses, and he's training for the RAF.

    2. I'm only 14 so I haven't really thought about it yet, I'm sure there's lots of information on Google though.

    3. You will require a number of pilot licences, however, I'm not sure what they are. I am a future airline pilot, you see. I'll have a look at some website for you though, and I'll edit my answer shortly.

  4. scccc is right.

Also, make sure you are in the know about UK and World politics, and RAF aircraft types and roles. You will not be interviewed solely for the job of aircrew, but as a Royal Air Force Officer, so be ready!

Additionally, you will be streamed after basic aircrew training depending on your skill, so you may not get into the transport section.

  5. only if you like flying big boring jets rather than harriers & tornados

besides RAF does recruit field men so u might find find yourself with a m16 in the middle of nowhere

  6. yes you can wear glasees...hope to see u there!!!
