RAF regiment reserves for a gap year?

is it advisable/possible to go into the RAF reserves for a year at 18 before university?

there's no point. A year? RAF regiment? Why not the Army?

Army's more of a laugh, TA for a year will teach you a lot and stand you in good stead for the rest of your life. You will also be able to get another little job as well if you want as the TA hours are not that many.
