RB Adrian Peterson unsure of being fit enough to take part in Minnesota Vikings training camp - NFL News
Minnesota Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson, faces a race against time to recover from his knee injury before the start of the 2012-13 season.
For now the star running back is making good progress on his recovery after he underwent surgery in January but his participation in the team’s training camp is still in doubt.
Speaking to ESPN reporter, Josina Anderson on Thursday, the running back cast doubt on his recovery allowing him to take part in training camp.
Peterson said.
"To be honest with you I feel like 50-50,"
Adding further he said.
“I feel like honestly, sitting here telling you the truth, I'll be able to participate doing certain things. I think I'll be able to participate.”
Minnesota Vikings though are taking things slowly with Peterson and are in no mood to rush the running back for the start of the new season.
Being their best player it is understandable why the Vikings are overly cautious with Peterson.
The franchise greatly missed Peterson’s big plays during the games he spent out injured and the team failed to perform in his absence ending up with a franchise worst 3-13 record.
The running back continued by saying that he feels he will be ready to take part in the training camps.
“Whatever the Vikings and their staff want me to do, then I'm gonna do that; but I'm not going to hinder myself. I'm going to let those guys know how I feel, so if I'm able to get out there and get a couple of reps or whatever, then I'm going to participate
in that way.”
Even with a campaign marred by injury, Peterson was by far the best player in Minnesota’s roster as he rushed for 970 yards from 208 attempts.
He also scored 12 touchdowns for the Vikings showcasing his importance to the team’s offence.
His efforts though were not enough as Minnesota’s offence struggled to score points in his absence with quarterback, Christian Ponder struggling to adapt to life in the National Football League (NFL).
This year though the Vikings have improved considerably and had a brilliant draft day as some talented youngsters were added to the roster.
