RB Jonathan Grimes takes place of cut LB Mister Alexander on Houston Texans’ roster – NFL News
The impressive Houston Texans have added another running back to their offence at cost of a defensive lineman just before their next game this Sunday (Nov. 04).
As per change introduced by the team, running back Jonathan Grimes has been promoted to the main roster. He has taken place of linebacker Mister Alexander who has been placed on the waivers.
Grimes has previously played with the Texans but was restricted to only practice squad. He was signed by the New York Jets in September this year but was released on past Tuesday. He has landed himself another opportunity with the Texans as the team appears
to bolster the offence strength.
It is the most impressive start to a season and run by the Texans and the management has been looking at the team’s needs at different positions. The team has come out in the new season as a Super Bowl contender after their triumphs of last season, of playing
playoffs and winning of their American Football Conference (AFC) South division title, both for the first time in their franchise history.
Although the defensive line has performed remarkably well into the team’s victory chances, it is core of their strategy that strong offence is the best defensive approach, which prompted the need of another rusher in the squad.
Their starting rusher RB Arian Foster has been impressive throughout this season and will certainly get boost from backup rusher Grimes.
He was taken on the practice squad by the Texans in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. He had a remarkably successful career in the college league. He represented William & Mary in the college league, and his record included 4,541 yards and 7,955 all-purpose
yards. Further, he had 2,289 kickoff return yards and 936 rushing attempts.
So altogether he had a rather shining career in the college and the Texans must be pleased that he has the potential to capitalise on the first real opportunity in the pro career. He is in a must-perform situation given that real game chances do not come
by that frequently as this one, and if he is able to prove his credentials he can wish for long-term prospects in the league.
