RB Peyton Hillis might land new deal and return to play for Cleveland Browns another season – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ running back, Peyton Hillis, stands getting another chance with his team as according to some reports the players is most likely to be offered a new deal by Browns management by next month (March 2012).
The player, who has made headlines for his troublesome past season at many occasions, is due to go unrestricted free agency in March this year.
As of the latest the team management is reported to be interested in signing him back to their roster. The player would be offered a new contract. The expected terms of the deal have not come the light so far.
It is yet again that the issue of Hillis is developing into sort of a controversy as the player had same contract problems with his team management during the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season.
The issue was later settled down and the player had a role in his team’s performance during the season, which again ended on the sluggish note, with only four wins and massive 12 losses.
Hillis has been the main strength of Browns’ squad and this is the reason that his team is interested in retaining him instead of letting him move anywhere else off the free agency.
The deal is expected to be signed by the both parties in the near future, after which the player is expected to join his team in the training camp in April this year.
Browns like their past seasons had continued with their problems of absence of their number of players due to injuries and going unrestricted free agency.
This has badly affected their performance on the field during the past season and they ended at their lowest behind the Indianapolis Colts in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division.
Hillis himself remained absent from a couple of games due to a hamstring injury and was not upto the mark in his performance in many more.
One noticeable among their injured players was their quarterback, Colt McCoy, who having missed a couple of games earlier in the season was out for the final four due to concussion.
The player had a head injury in Browns’ 13th game against the Pittsburgh Steelers into week 14th of the season and is yet to recover from it. There is no word on the future of his career and whether the injury was a career threatening
one.
Browns management has not said much about the injury status of their RB, Hillis, and QB, McCoy, apparently being hopeful for their return to them next season.
The issue of McCoy’s recovery and return especially remains a concern for both the player and team and if he becomes unavailable due to his injury, it will have a negative outfall on the team’s attack line. The team will definitely look for his replacement.
