RB Rashard Mendenhall is back in Pittsburgh Steelers versus Cincinnati Bengals – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall has confirmed he is returning to action this week against the Cincinnati Bengals after serving a game suspension by the team over his unreported absence from Heinz Field Stadium when he was left out on
the sidelines for the game versus San Diego Chargers.
Rashard return to action for the first time on Wednesday, taking full part in the day-long mid week practice and indicating he was raring to return to the side. He avoided offering any remarks about the disappearance from the team facility, which resulted
in his suspension for a game.
Nevertheless, his return is good news for the team that otherwise is struggling at almost all positions with injury problems. This is second time in the season that the RB has missed a game or more. Earlier, he remained on the sideline due to torn Achilles
tendon.
The Steelers are in a must-win position versus the Bengals to salvage last chance for a playoff berth. In case of a loss, they will be ousted from the season. The win in their last game will not have an impact on their position as such.
A problem confronting them is that they are a win behind the Bengals on the points table and their win stands a greater importance for them to survive the scare and then go on to win next game to confirm a place in the second round.
It is rather discouraging to note the Steelers’ performance being affected on the offensive line. They have gone off the winning track straight after absence of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger due to an injury scare, and are yet to find a way back since then.
Big Ben has returned to the side after missing three games straight, although he has not won a game after returning. Apparently, he is not comfortable with his form since return and also has been a part of controversy stemming from his remarks about bad
play-calling, which throws some light on bad relationship between him and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
