RB Ray Rice returns to boost Baltimore Ravens offence vs Cincinnati Bengals – NFL News
Running back Ray Rice has made himself available for the Baltimore Ravens’ season starter against the Cincinnati Bengals in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division showdown this Monday night.
It will be the first real show from the player who had to carry the ball only ten times in the preseason, after going through a controversial offseason phase, seeking answer to his demand for a fresh deal.
He said of the Bengals’ game:
"It's sort of like that refreshing feeling, like the first day of school when you want to wear your new clothes. That's what Monday night is. You put on your best outfit and you're ready to go. It's obviously a great feeling, because you know what Monday
night is. A lot of great players are made on Monday night. Those are the ones that are remembered."
The player is also expected to lead the mourning of Ravens former owner Art Modell to be held before the start of the game to formally pay tributes to him. Modell died on Tuesday, and Ray said the former owner was one of the reasons that he was still a Raven.
According to quarterback Joe Flacco:
"I think Ray and some of the guys that have been around him will get the message across to a lot of the players on this team."
Ray’s return nevertheless will strengthen the team’s offence, which is already gearing up for a strong show with QB Flacco's stepped-up game as a result of his work with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.
Flacco is expected to carry on the superb form he has shown in the preseason campaign as the Ravens head to the game as favourites.
Although the odds are very much in their favour they can still face a strong resistance from the Bengals. Their ability to bounce back strongly in the latter half of the game has the potential to affect the overall results and the Ravens must be conscious
to the fact and should not let the Bengals run through their defences.
QB Andy Dalton is as much capable as Flacco and Ray Rice. His past season’s figures speak high of his potential to perform wondrously well.
