RBR driver Sebastian Vettel says he learnt a lot from Friday Free Practice sessions – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he learnt a lot from both the morning and afternoon Friday Practice sessions held in Belgium on August 26, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Vettel added that Practice session two was quite tricky, as the weather kept changing all the time.
The team driver further stated that it was a shame for Red Bull Racing team, as they used only one set of intermediate tyres during the afternoon session in wet conditions.
The German commented, “For the rest of the weekend you can imagine the weather forecast and the rain is absolutely possible, the question is how much. We try to save as much as we can, so we don't want to ruin the tyres we have for Saturday and Sunday.”
He went on to mention, “We had a little bit of running in the dry, on the front wing we got a decent result on that, but that was the only run we had in dry conditions. Lap times are difficult to judge today, and difficult to know where we are, but the car
feels okay. Let's see what we can do.”
The 24-year-old driver told the media that both of the drivers managed only one full run on the damp racetrack and in the remaining time, they struggled in wet conditions.
Red Bull driver, Vettel was not able to top first and second Practice sessions, as Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher was fastest in morning and Mark Webber topped the practice session in afternoon at the Spa circuit.
Vettel was at the fourth place in the morning session ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who managed his practice run at the fifth place for his team in Belgium.
After finishing the first session at Spa circuit, the team driver registered 10th place in the second practice session with a gap of 1.469 seconds from his teammate Webber, who was fastest in afternoon.
Let’s see how Vettel performs in the final practice session and qualifying round following his disappointing Friday Practice sessions. The qualifying round of the Belgium Grand Prix will take place on August 27, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
