RBR’s Sebastian Vettel secures 11th pole position of 2011 F1 season in Singapore – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver, Sebastian Vettel, has successfully secured his 11th pole position of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Marina Bay street circuit during the qualifying round held on September 24.
All F1 teams participated in the Qualifiers of the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix. The drivers once again used sets of supersoft and soft tyres by Pirelli during the qualifying round after the Monaco, Canadian and Hungarian race weekends of the season.
Red Bull driver Vettel was once again at the pole finish in the Qualifiers. He secured his 11th pole position of the ongoing season in Singapore after running on the sets of soft and supersoft compounds. The German set the fastest time of 1 minute
and 44.381 seconds in Q3 and now, he will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the front row on the grid.
Vettel was closely followed by his team-mate Mark Webber, who was 0.351 seconds slower than the current leading driver and finished his Qualifier’s run at the second position.
McLaren driver, Jenson Button, will start Sunday’s race from the third position on the opening grid. He set the third fastest time in the qualifying round of the Singapore race weekend after struggling with his MP4-26 car. His teammate, Lewis Hamilton, had
a good stint in Q3 and after putting in all of his efforts, he came up on the fourth position in the final qualifying round.
Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa claimed the fifth and sixth positions respectively for Ferrari during Saturday’s session.
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were the seventh and eighth fastest runners at the qualifying round on the Marina Bay street circuit.
Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta of Force India-Mercedes took ninth and tenth respectively in Q3 at Singapore.
Sergio Perez put Sauber at the 11th position in Q3 at the Marina Bay street circuit on Saturday, while his team-mate, Kamui Kobayashi, was slow during the Qualifiers and will now start Sunday’s race from the 17th place on the grid.
Both drivers from Lotus-Renault were unable to finish their runs in the top ten positions for Q3. Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov will start the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix from the 15th and 18th place respectively on the grid on Sunday,
September 25.
Team Lotus, Virgin Racing Team and Hispania Racing Team again failed to manage their best possible Qualifier’s run in the ongoing season at the Marina Bay street circuit.
Let’s see whether Vettel wins the Singapore Grand Prix after securing his 11th pole position of the season at the Marina Bay street circuit.
