RBR’s Sebastian Vettel secures pole position for 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel secured a pole place in Q3 for the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after running at the Yas Marina Circuit on Saturday, November 12.
All the teams took part in the qualifying round following the Free practice sessions of the Abu Dhabi race weekend. All the drivers except Williams’ Rubens Barrichello finished their qualifier’s run after running on the sets of medium and soft tyres by Pirelli.
The double world champion, Vettel managed to secure his 14th pole place in the 2011 Formula 1 season at Abu Dhabi. He set the fastest time of 1 minute and 38.481 seconds in Q3 and now, he will start the Abu Dhabi race from the front row on the
grid on Sunday, November 13.
The German was closely followed by McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who was 0.141 seconds off the pace of Vettel and after trying his best, he secured the second position for Sunday’s race.
His teammate Jenson Button was competitive in Q3, as he managed to secure his third position for the raceday.
Red Bull Racing’s other driver Mark Webber had a gap of 0.377 seconds from Vettel and after running in his RB7 car he came at the fourth position in the final Q3 classifications.
Ferrari duo Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa tried their best to complete their Qualifier’s run in the top three positions, but their competitors were faster as compared to them. They were slotted at the fifth and sixth positions respectively in the end
of Q3 in Abu Dhabi.
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher successfully managed seventh and eighth positions correspondingly in Q3 after using the sets of medium and soft compounds.
Force India’s Adrian Sutil will start the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the ninth position on the opening grid on Sunday.
His teammate Paul di Resta took 10th place in the end of Q3 after running at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Hispania Racing Team and Virgin Racing Team will start the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the back of the field.
Let’s see whether Vettel wins the 2011 Abu Dhabi race on Sunday after his strong qualifying round or not.
