Question:

RBS was to send a share dividend, but I got a cash dividend instead. Is this due to SEC restrictions?

Not that I'm complaining :-) but it was just an unexpected surprise. The NYSE share price fell precipitously when RBS announced the share dividend, but I (and I assume other American shareholders) received a substantial cash dividend. Is this due to SEC restrictions on the way the rights issue was handled, since American investors weren't eligible to buy new shares?

  1. I also got the cash dividend. Its because they give cash divs as 1st div and stocks for the next in a year I guess ( i read from some blogs). There is nothing like American investors can't buy RBS..They certainly can buy..Hope this helps..

  2. RBS has suspended their DRIP.  Final 2007 and interim 2008 dividends are being paid in cash.

  3. the price didn't 'fall', it was adjusted to reflect the dividend payout.
