RC CANNES goes on to the final of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Volleyball news

The first semi final match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women took place on March 24 in Azerbaijan in the city of Baku.
The two teams that competed with each other for the ticket into the final of the championship were French players of RC CANNES as well as the Italian squad of MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE.
The venue of the final four match was the “Heydar Aliyev” Sports and Concert Complex.
The clash between the two sides went on for four long and competitive sets at the end of which the team which stood on the winning end was RC CANNES. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores at the end of the session: 25-17, 26-24, 27-29 and
25-15.
The coach of the winning team, Yan Fang, shared his views in the following manner at the press conference that was conducted after the match reached its close, “I am very proud of my players as they stayed cool and concentrated also after we missed this
couple of match balls in the third set. We were able to storm back every time we trailed in the score and in my opinion this was like an extension of our great game against Vakifbank in the 1/4 finals. As for the final, we know that Fenerbahce and Dinamo are
two high-class teams, so my only purpose is to be able to deliver our best Volleyball as we did today, that’s all.”
Milena Rasic was able to be the top scorer on the RC CANNES squad by scoring a total of 21 points.
On the other hand, the most active player of the entire match was the Canadian opposite on the VILLA CORTESE squad who tallied a total of 25 points for her side.
The first set of the match was dominated by the French as they were able to take the lead early on and stick to the advantage till the end of the opening frame. The second set was highly competitive, but the French succeeded in securing it as well. A tough
challenge was provided by the Italians in the third set as they secured it as well but the fourth frame went to the French at 25-15.
