RC CANNES secures sixth consecutive win in 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League
RC CANNES of France had a match with the MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE of Italy recently.
The competition was part of the pool play of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League that was held in Castellanza, Italy. Both the teams found themselves in Pool A of the tournament.
The match between the two sides kept the spectators on the edge of their seats all through the long five sets that were played. The first set of the match saw the guests perform better and seal the deal on the frame comfortably despite the fact that they
were on their opponent’s turf.
It took a tough fight in the second set from the Italians to even the match. The Italians were able to take the lead early on and then stick with the advantage until the end of the frame. Both the third as well as the fourth sets of the game were played
well from both the sides but the decisive fifth and final frame favoured the French who won the frame due to their superior skill as well as experience in the game.

The opposite from the RC CANNES squad, Nadia Centoni, expressed herself in the following manner after the team had won the match, “My compliments to VILLA CORTESE. They played with a young team tonight but they made things quite complicated for us. Their
serving was for instance even better than ours. We are hardly waiting for the name of our next opponent in the 1/8 finals and our aim remains to qualify to the final four in Baku.”
The recent victory of the RC CANNES is the sixth consecutive one that they have been able to achieve in this championship so far.
Despite the fact that the Italians lost the match, their player Lucia Bosetti was able to become the leading scorer of the match. Bosetti was able to keep the pressure on the French by putting up a total of 26 points for her squad.
