RC CANNES sweeps Bank BPS Fakro MUSZYNA – 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League
A quarter-final match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League match took place recently between the Polish women’s team of Bank BPS Fakro MUSZYNA as well as the French RC CANNES squad. The match was held in the Polish city of Muszyna.
It did not take long for the match to reach its close as the French were able to assert themselves over their opponents by making a clean sweep. Not only did the French earn a win by bagging three sets back to back, they did so by securing each frame by
a significant point difference.
Despite the fact that the Polish were playing in their home ground, they could not step up and challenge their opponents. As a result, the scoreboard showed the following final set scores in favour of the French as 25-19, 25-18 and 25-19.
The coach of the French squad, Yan Fang, shared his views about the performance of his team in the following manner, “It is never easy to play in Poland; this is my fourth time in this country and I know that the fans can always create a great atmosphere
for the home team that the guests cannot always stand. However, we played as we had planned, both technically and tactically. That is why we won in straight sets tonight.”
On the other hand, the home team coach, Bogdan Serwinski, said, “Our attack tonight was kind of archaic in comparison to the great combinations showed by our opponents. This team is even better than I thought it to be and I assume they can go for a great
result at the end of the competition.”
The French were able to take the lead early on at 5-0. Once they had the advantage with themselves, they did not look back and sped on towards an easy win. The second frame of the match followed the same pattern as the first one and rested in the hands of
the French in the end. The third set saw the Polish take the lead at 3-2 only to let it slip as well as the match to the hands of the French.
