RC44 Championship Tour 2011 heads to Rovinj in Croatia for penultimate event of 2011 Adris RC44 Cup
Top RC44 sailing teams will be gathered in Rovinj, Croatia, for the penultimate event of 2011 RC44 Championship Tour. The 2011 Adris RC44 Cup will be held from September 28-October 2 at Rovinj in the north of Adriatic Sea, in Croatia. Rovinj is not a regular
sailing venue but it will surely turn out to be a brilliant sailing site in near future.
As far as the current standings of RC44 Championship Tour are concerned, Team Aqua is leading the match race as well as the fleet race standings. They will definitely be looking to hold on to their positions, as they have shown great consistency in the previous
events of the tour. They are currently three points ahead of defending champions, Oracle Racing.
Team Aqua owner, Chris Bake will be a part of the team this time again along with his professional experienced skipper, Cameron Appleton. Both sailors are ready to make their mark in the championship. On the other hand, Oracle Racing has hit second spot
and they are defending the title at the upcoming Adris RC44 Cup in Rovinj.
The 2011 Adris RC44 Cup will also feature the Croatian Olympic Sailing Team including Ivan Kljakovic Gašpic, a Finn sailor who is currently ranked at Number Four in the ISAF world rankings.
Speaking to local media about the team’s participation, President of Croatian Sailing Federation, Marijan Hanžekovic said, “To be part of the RC44 Tour is a great honour for Croatia. It is our pleasure to again welcome some of the best sailors in the world,
in these beautiful waters of Rovinj.”
He added, “I am glad to see Croatian sailors among the crews. This is another sign of the strength of sailing in Croatia. This event is a great promotion of Croatia in the world of sailing and tourism.”
