RCA Lyra 2gb MP3 player--frozen

What do I do when the "USB connected; battery full" message stays on the screen after downloading songs (and the USB isn't connected)? Nothing moves when I press any button. What does the reset button do? (I haven't pressed it yet for fear of losing everything)
