my last question didnt quite get me any answers, i mentioned that I am going to be black belt when I am about 16, would that increase the chance of me getting into the police force? and I am only 16, so this might be a nooby question... is FBI only for USA citizens? is there any FBI job in Canada? and for either RCMP or FBI, is there a police detective job for solving crimes in them? what department is that? and what course do I have to take after I graduate from high school in order to get in either RCMP or FBI? would there be people coming to our school and give us applications? and one last question, how much do you get paid for RCMP?FBI? Thx for answering , I know thats a lot of quesiton :) thank you!!!

  1. The RCMP is just the police that is it they drive in cars and don't were red all the time!!!! Being in the FBI might be like the same as killing every one in the Canadian Gov't.

  2. I answered your last question.  Please refer to it regarding your Tae Kwon Do experience and pay.

I cannot answer for the FBI, as I am not a US citizen.

Regarding detective jobs, yes, there are lots of detective jobs in the RCMP.  Once you are an RCMP member, you can start applying for jobs in General Investigation Section, Major Crimes, or various other "detective" jobs (the RCMP does not have a job titled "detective" or rank "detective" as some other police services do).  Right now there are members with 3 years of general duty experience getting positions in Major Crimes, so it is a good time to get into the force if that is what your job interest is.

Courses, there are no specific courses to take.  The RCMP looks for well rounded individuals, so concentrating your courses/extra curricular activities/volunteer work too much around policing may result in a deferal when it comes to applying.  Make sure you do a variety of activities to "broaden your horizens".

As for people coming to your school, the RCMP has made significant increases in it's recruiting activities, so the recruiters may end up at your school.  But check out www.rcmp.ca for details for applying in the interim.

  3. I would suggest taking some time in high school to get information about policing and the requirements to become an officer at any level.  Does the local force / RCMP have recruitment programs in your neighborhood?  And finish high school...you will probably need it, plus some college level courses in criminology, emergency response or policing.  Get an good general education in case you change your mind - and teens / young adults often do.

By your question, you sound like you are Canadian.  The process of getting permanent residence in the US (and for foreigners immigrating into Canada) is complex and time consuming. You will need to be qualified to do work which is in demand, unless you have a relative who can sponsor you.

You may be able to enter the US on a temporary visa to study or to wotk for a specific employer for a period of time.  As with most countires, there are several types of visa each with complex regulatons about permissable work.  Many visas require the foreigner to hold a Bachelor's degree.  In other cases, you Canadian employer could send you to the US.  I don't know what the rules are for police related employment, and you may also have to take security regulations into account when you are not in your country of citizenship.

  4. You must be a US citizen to join the FBI.  You must be a Canadian citizen to join the RCMP.  Check out each departments web site for their specific qualifications.
