Question:

RCN Cable Trouble?

During a big storm last week, the "Guide" on my digital cable went blank and would only say "No Data" for each channel. After about three days I got sick of this and unplugged the cable box in order to restart it (its the only way to restart this particular cable box) and now it gives me an error whenever I hit the "Guide" button on my remote. It doesn't even take me to the No Data guide anymore. In fact, it gives me an error with almost every button. I can still watch the channels fine, but I no longer have any of the fun digital cable perks.

Anyone have any idea on how to reprogram the remote/box? Or if it is something else, let me know. Thanks!

  1. I have had rcn for a while now (recently changed their name to Astound! here, bay area) and have had very good customer support. What I would do is call their customer support. If it is simple enough they could explain, step by step, how to resolve the problem. Otherwise, they will send a tech out to fix the problem.  If they want to charge, let them know- No way- you had Nothing to do with this problem. In most cases they will wave any fees.
