RCR driver Kevin Harvick delighted after Coca Cola 600 victory – NASCAR news
Richard Childress Racing driver Kevin Harvick has scored his first victory in the season’s longest race Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Sprint Cup series race winner Kevin Harvick has won two consecutive races at Auto Club Speedway, Fontana and Martinsville Speedway earlier this season. Now Harvick is the only driver with three wins in the running season past 12 races.
Harvick said, “Well, we've won at a lot of places we haven't won at lately -- and I think as you look through even last year, we did the same thing. So there is not really a given weekend now that we go to that I don't feel like we can show up and turn it
all around and win the race.”
Richard Childress Racing team owner, Richard Childress was asked about the recent incident held with Kyle Busch, when he was stopped while over speeding in his yellow Lexus.
Childress did not comment much about Busch’s incident, as he said, “Actually I don't have a dog in that hunt with Kyle Busch, but I have a dog in another hunt with him -- and that hunt is not over yet. I'm looking forward to our other hunt.”
The race winner was more of a humble to react on the Busch incident and said he will be in strong competition with Kyle Busch during the Cup race at CMS.
Kevin Harvick was not much happy after his Saturday’s practice time but his team’s crew chief Gil Martin stated his view that he knew the main factor which hardens the race. He said that, the race is starts late in the evening about 6pm and due to its length
it continues for about four hours or more.
The race starts in light and ends in night, many drivers struggle to take the lead in early laps. This causes frustration and every racer who attempts to do that drops far back by the near end of the race.
Harvick’s team did practices in the daytime and adjusted the car for the late racing section under floodlights. Eventually the effort came in handy after the mishap faced by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne, giving victory to Kevin Harvick.
