and neighbors all rationalize drinking it when they are doing an hours worth of outside work. If they sweat they drag out the 'drink'. What I see is the ingredient label which states it has as much sugar as soda. Both my husband and my neighbor are borderline diabetics. Is there any reason for them to be drinking this stuff in place of plain ole water. When I played ball in the hot sun as a kid we lived on water. Without fancy sugary drinks sold to ignorant people who don't need it. They just like it.

  1. Water is the best to drink, at least normally. However, if you are exerting yourself, especially when it is hot then more than just water is needed.

The drink you mentioned, Gatoraid, a sports drink, does normally have a fair amount of sugar in it. But if they use it as intended then it should not hurt them. Even if they are borderline diabetics then it really is the rest of their diet or their weight or perhaps both that is the real issue not using sports drinks as they are intended.

If it has you that concened then look for sugar free versions of sports drinks. If you can't find any just ask me I will be able recommend some.

  2. so, your husband, his friends, and neighbors are all ignorant people fooled by the media into buying something they don't really need...imagine that.

  3. You can't get sued, this is a Q & A forum.  Powerade now makes sugar free drinks, called powerade zero, if they HAVE to have their "drinks" get them this one.

  4. water is the BEST thing to drink... sports drinks are good only once in a while

  5. Drink lots water and you'll be fine! You don't really need that stuff. Remember to start before you go out in the sun, not after!

If they're still concerned about electrolytes, they can eat some bananas and salty pretzels for potassium and sodium. Packaged pretzels are now available in whole grain versions. Eating, as opposed to drinking, will fill you up, so you'll eat less later.

  6. I have heard the rumor that drinks with electrolytes are better than water while working out, but I was then corrected by someone who told me that it is not true. You are right, water IS better than those drinks.

  7. Gatoraide and other sport drinks are just a poison that a big corporation is spending  billions on advertising to get rich. your  health or even quenching your thirst is of no importance to them. Animals have no problem quenching their thirst with water and they expel more energy than your husband and his friends

  8. Gatoraid Gatoraid Gatoraid Gatoraid

you can't be sued because you arn't a public figure, or if you are, you are being anonymous.

as for them, they are not burnging through the minerals and sugar that  a professional athelete burns through, so all that sugar is very unhealthy... the should either drink water, or flavored water if they want some of the flavor.  best would be water.

  9. ok tell your husband n ur neighbor to drink gatorade when they r working out in the sun.

  10. It was invented in the University of Florida by a Gator that's why its called Gatorade. If you are a diabetic. Not borderline diabetic? What does that mean? He looks diabetic because he is fat or skinny? He is or is diabetic. Now if he is or wants to loose weight Propel fitness water by the boys a Gatorade have the electrolytes without the sugar. The sugar gives you sugar energy as well. Sugar will enhance your performance to a peak. It gives the athletes some extra energy. They burn a lot of calories out there, they have to replace some. The sugar has its logic too.

  11. Plain water is better and cheaper. Sometimes these drinks are ok, but I would recommend, especially for your husband and his friend, water. It provides the same things and without the added sugar and calories.
