At MEPS during entry to AF in 1995, med doctor asked about health issues, advised him of rapid heart beat just to cover bases. He asked if it bothered me and I told him it did not. So, during basic training I got a resp. infection and went to dispensary. Vitals taken, and I believe due to all of the physical activity, heart was doing its rapid heart beat thing. EKG done... no signs of issues however military med doctors said it was probably PSVT, discharged me and advised me to see a civilian doctor. I have done that twice since 1995 and there's never been a PSVT diagnosis or anything other than a rapid heart beat at times. I want to go USAR since now I'm 35 and too old for the AF. Any ideas on whether I could if I show proof that civilian doctors could not confirm diagnosis? I've grown quite used to the issue, and no meds have ever been prescribed.

  1. Even though you've been cleared by a civilian doctor, the military may still want you to get cleared by a military doctor. If you're ok, then, they can apply for a waiver for you.

  2. yes you can. as long as you just have a 4, not a 4a,4b,4c or any letter after the 4, there is still hope.

  3. Any AF re-enlistment code 4 is not normally eligible to re-enlist. I myself have a 4C and, even though the civilian doc has cleared me, no recruiter will have anything to do with me. It depends on the circumstances. I would talk to a recruiter, they will have the best information for you.
