RE. Should the USA walk out of NATO?

Europe made the mistake of disarming after WW1 because they thought it was the war to end all wars and after WW2 they decided never to make that mistake again! And are now on the verge of uniting the whole of Europe’s military into one.

Just remember Europe has a lot larger population than USA ` access to the same technology as the USA which in turn means Europe can match if not exceed the industrial might of the USA and rumour has it the very same people who created Chobham armour have the technology to quite easily defeat it too thus rendering the Abrams tank with pretty much standard protection capabilities.

Just look to WW2 and see how Germany did against the Allies and then realise that Germany is only a portion of what Europe is` and Britain is only the size of Alabama but is still a major military force with the capability to teach and share technology with the rest of a united Europe.

So yes it might be a good idea for the USA to walk out of NATO and leave Europe and Russia to sort out their differences on their side of the pond. Who knows Russia might decide to join Europe one day and maybe before Russia united with Europe you would almost certainly see Britains long standing friend Canada become a major and trustworthy ally.

d**n now that would be a super power.

  1. Should, could, would -- the one thing you've forgotten is it's Europe and they don't do anything, even if they have, as you contest, larger population than USA, access to technology and industrial might.

We're talking about two very, very different cultures here.  NATO had a place at one time, a response to a world war where we had to band together.  Americans thought very highly of this association.  But I think more and more Americans are realizing that we've put a lot more stock into this organization (as well as the UN) than any other members do.

Americans think of WWII as a successful event in history that was achieved with the help of 'friends'.  We're realizing now Europeans view it as an event where the Americans who fought alongside them came late, put them in debt, and committed 'atrocities' in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

NATO is past its prime and even our enemies know how empty a threat it is because Europe won't fight.  Any threat would have to be right in Europe's face, occupying and/or bombing their countries before they'd act.  Otherwise, trying to take care of a threat before it gets bigger is considered American Imperialism.

  2. Yes, end NATO. The Europeans have let their military might slide to almost nothing. US would be left paying for any conflict. NATO is so one sided leaving only the US to foot the military costs. If we leave Europe to themselves, mabe they will wise up and support their own defence.

  3. I think USA should walk out of NATO and walk out of Europe. Then we will look, how uniting Europe will be able to counteract regenerating imperialism of Russia.

  4. I don't understand.  If there really is this European superpower in the offing, why would the US not want to be on board with it?

So no, the US should not walk out of NATO.

  5. Yes they have never been a friend to my country if they were poland would have not become a russian satellite and i am not polish

  6. If America decide the leave Nato with urgent decision .. this action might be trigger some very interesting situation.

I'm sure E.U will try to find a new "partner" for keep the our bed warm , like a EU & Russia coalition against rest of the world, a united Europe inc.russia .. what - a - power.

Hollycow!! A another superpower who had technology - know-how and almost unfinished resources .. what a mighty coalition.  I really wanna see this  :)

  7. I think we should stay in NATO, couldn't hurt. We have a track record of showing up to world wars at the last minute anyways.

  8. No way, if the USA walks away it won't be NATO. Plus America loves being with NATO, because Russia hates NATO.

  9. There are a few discrepancies to your equation, I mean no offense.  You are correct about the industralism compared to the U.S., however the economical level is in its highest repertoire in the U.S. than of the European Nations.  Plus there maybe a higher degree of ballistic defense on that armor than of the M1 Abrams but they haven't the slightest advantage when it comes to the technological procurement of our manufacturing speed.  We greatly out number other nations of armor when it comes to advanced weaponry.

But I disagree on seceding from NATO, it is the United Nations that have to be of concern.  With the UN's reputation of child prostitution and the "Food-for-Oil" scandal, there are many concerns about the U.S.'s participation in the UN council.  I greatly feel that the U.S. should secede from the UN instead, before they tarnish more of the foreign policy that the majority of the U.S. adheres to.

  10. Lets start With the war to end all wars a quote attributed to Wilson the American President. And the victors of that war the U.S. included made the mistake of completely bankrupting Germany thinking that would solve there problem, and it was Europe and the U.S. leadership of the time who appeased Hitler and that's why WW II got started.

We need to stay in NATO as a full member because Putin is trying to start the Soviet Union again, so we need to remain with NATO.

  11. Unfortunately, we cannot walk out of NATO without breaking treaties, and losing credibility in the eyes of the world. What we should be doing is informing our NATO allies that we will base our resources allotted, and put our soldiers in harms way based on their commitment and resources allotted in ongoing conflicts around the world. The current largest commitment in Iraq is 135,000 troops in Iraq. The second largest number of soldiers from another country? 2,000 troops! Though the U.S. is in an unpopular war there, the Afghanistan scenario is the same. We cannot afford to keep being the world's police force, and should demand more participation and resources from those countries who have joined NATO. It's kind of like we meet for dinner twice a week, where I buy you steak and lobster, and you buy me a taco. It just doesn't seem fair.
