Question:

REALY CONFUSED!! please help!

Im going fishing tommorow. im going to a lake in England, Liverpool. i dont know what fish it has in it. i just know its a lake in a park were it is free to fish and lots of people fish there.

i have got a fly fishing rod its 9ft 6 and i dont know how to fly fish so i was wondering can i use it as a normal fishing rod if i buy a reel ?

if not a friend told me to buy a pole for about £10

he also told me to buy mixed magots for £1.

i also need to buy hooks, wieghts, wire

is there anything else i would need ?

  1. A normal reel should fit on your fly fishing rod! Good luck fishing!


  2. I would go ahead and buy a regular spincasting or baitcasting rod & reel. You could probably cobble a new reel onto your fly rod, but it wouldn't be a good choice. The fly rod is much more flexible, and besides, you want to keep the fly rod together so you can learn to fly fish down the road. It might be a little hard to learn by tomorrow, butafter your trip you can take the fly rod out to the back yard or a park area and practice casting it.

    The only other things I can think of that you might need are a stringer to keep your catch on, a camera to take pictures, a pair of pliers for taking the  fish off hte hook, and a knife for dressing the fish. Once you get the fish, you'll need a frying pan and a recipe for cooking them up.
