...what do you think of this? do you think it will work? do you think russel crowe is worthy of this part?

I read the cynthia true book, about bill, and i doubt his life is interesting enough to make a movie for the typical holly wood audience...i think the producers of the movie will ruin it by jazzing it up to make it more entertaining!

anyway...thanks for reading, share your thoughts!

bye

  1. I can certainly see the physical resemblance in some ways.

Knowing you Doc - you will be first in line to see that one!

I didn't think Jim Carrey could do justice to a mad man like Andy Kaufman, but he actually surprised me!

Why not just keep an open mind and wait and see.  I know that Bill Hicks was one of your gods of comedy.

  2. Hi,  I'm sorry but, who is Bill Hicks?  I'm sure Russell Crowe will be excellent as he was in all of his movies.  I was in Newfoundland this summer pulled into a driveway to turn around and found out it was Russel's summer home.

  3. He could do a great job, you never know.

  4. I agree that typical Hollywood might not be impressed or entertained ... however there seems to be a trend in Hollywood these days - much like the small glasses and Starbucks espresso once was - to "enjoy" flicks that are more Indie-oriented. Its hip and chic to delve into Indie-type films now ... so maybe there will be mainstream appeal without having to add elaborate soundtracks and excessive drama. Bill hated Hollywood, so it would be comically-fitting for them to swoon over him and the movie.

As for Russell Crowe - if every performance of his could be like Romper Stomper, I'd be sold. But I tend to waver with him ... when he is on, he's on. But when he's off .. he bugs the **** out of me.

I would almost vote for John Cusack instead. Chas Early should do it ... but they will need someone big to carry the movie mainstream.

EDIT : Hmm, I could agree on Benicio del Toro. I do like that. I always forget about him.

I do stand by my John Cusack suggestion, tho :) He is phenomenal and I have seen him in some oddball roles. His ability to transform and act past his Say Anything- and Serendipity-type roles is amazing.

  5. I don't know if he will play that part you speak of but he is a really good actor and I loved his performance in Gladiator. If he does get the part I am sure he will give a great performance like he did in Gladiator.

  6. Crowe is an adequate actor.  But it seems to me an unknown talented actor would lend itself more to a story about Bill.  Also, as you pointed out, the script is what will make it or break it.  Thanks for cluing me in to this, I hadn't heard about it.
