REMOTE SEEMS TO HAVE DIED - RED LED VS GREEN

Question

Not sure why my remote won't work any more. Had the tv since May 2008 and my remote and tv worked just fine. Now, we noticed a probles when we played a DVD (which we have done since purchase) and the remote just stopped functioning.

I wanted to try to troubleshoot before buying a new one. I have changed to fresh batteries and the backlight works but not the buttons on the remote.

Would appreciate anyone's help.
