REPULSIVE smell in kitchen drain!!!! Any natural cleaners to use?

There was food sitting in my kitchen drain from a party. After I cleaned all the dishes, the drain REALLY stunk. I've already put baking soda, salt, and vinegar down there, but it's still horrible!!!! I don't have any cleaning products, because I use all natural stuff...and I don't have bleach. Anything else I can use?

  1. Turn water off and remove the piece of pipe that looks like a U under your sink. Use a large pan or a bucket to catch water as you remove this piece and take it outside and clean it well.

  2. I would just go get some bleach.  Seriously.  I know exactly what you're smelling (this happens in my kitchen with so many people living in my house) and bleach is the only thing that will kill the germs and bacteria buildup in the drain and get rid of that awful smell.

We have a septic system also and use bleach to clean the sink.  In the 2 years we've owned our home, it's never caused a problem with the septic.

  3. try squeezing a lemon into drain.  If you have a garbage disposal, cut lemon up and run through it.

  4. I'm sorry Hun but if you want to to get the smell OUT you will have to buy an ALL NATURAL BLEACH. This will do it. BUT if you have a garbage disposal or what not just cut up lemon or oranges and run that through. I cant believe that the baking soda and vinegar didn't do it. That should have taken care of it all. Good luck sweetie.

  5. Your trap should be working under sink.........make sure all materials are flushed out of disposal.....and then run water thru the sink last.........after that the trap should be full and you should not get bad odors...........good luck.......baking soda should do it.

  6. try lemon juice, if you have a disposal, grind up the lemon rinds little at a time
