i just received a MASSIVE post about a BUNCH of dogs that will be HEARTSTUCK tomorrow or Friday. shephards, beagles, bassets, labs, dachshunds..... the list GOES ON!

does it seem like most of these come from YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO?

they must have a huge kill percentage.

it hurts my heart that i can't do any more right now.

I have to limit myself to breed specific rescue, and removed myself from all the other lists.  I can't do it all, and I can't bear knowing how many will die.

Yes i do. too.

All you have to do is read this forum to understand why the problem is so serious...... people who don't even know their animal is pregnant, who don't know how an animal gets pregnant, who purposely breed their pet and know nothing about the whelping process, all kinds of people who have no money for a vet....... I can't believe it. Just makes me ill.

it's hard and it's going to be harder, i'm signed up with a corgi rescue, and i have never gotten so much contacts until recently with the financial situation.  the bottom line is the US economy sucks right now, ppl have to move to smaller homes or even apartments that would not allow pets.

I hear they do have a high percentage of kill shelters..It hurts everyones heart who cares and so many people just stay on here and want to BREED dogs it kills you on the inside!!!  We cannot help all of them..SO sad..

Yes, I get a lot of those emails but I always ask to be taken off those lists about long-distance shelters. Simply, it's tough enough to help locally yet alone 1/2 way across the country

Yeah, I feel your pain.

I just get so sick of seeing the most beautiful, smart, sweet, pretty, cute dogs get put down just because some idiot wanted puppies.

Some idiot felt they somehow had the right to "let her have just 1 litter".

I preach spay/neuter until I just can't say it anymore.  I don't care who I p**s off anymore.

Sounds like a miller may have turned in many now "useless" breeders to me.Had they been confiscated, likely would have been held as states evidence.

Thousands & thousands(especially midwest) are killed,sold in underground auctions & many rescued.Breed specific rescues in that area need to be alerted & possibly have been.

Many states no longer use the method you refer to.Some facilities used this on tiny animals they had difficulties locating veins on.

All are devastating losses & many shelter workers have cared for these animals & now are forced to euthanize.

Best thing is education,spay/neuter programs,adopting from shelters & not supporting pup mill business.

Rescues deal with this stuff daily-supporting their efforts also helps.They welcome volunteers,supplies etc.
