RESTAURANTS IN MIAMI BEACH?

Question

I'm going on a trip with my girlfriend next week. I've not seen her in 4 moths and we are meeting in Miami for a week next week. I would like to take her out to a nice restaurant any ideas of good restauants in the area??

Joe's Stone Crab or China Grill are probably your best choices. Try to avoid some of the restraunts on Ocean Drive as most are overpriced food that is slightly better than or just mediocre. The only restraunt worth eating at on Ocean Drive in my opinion is News Cafe.

I agree with Jennifer, but, since I've never been to Barton G, half my reason is aesthetic and the other half is nostalgic. First the aesthetic: While you're only 10 minutes away, at most, from all the South Beach action, you'd be on the bay side of Miami Beach, where it is quiet, residential (including tons of condos) and, therefore, I think, more romantic. You've very close to the bay. In fact, for a nice short stroll to quiet, beautiful Biscayne Bay, especially if there is a Miami full moon, when you walk out the restaurant, walk south to 14th Street (past 14th Terrace), turn west, and the bay is a short block away. If for some reason that is gated because of the Morton Towers condos, go one more block to old, residential Monad Terrace (lots of modest late 1950s, early 1960s homes) and walk down to the bay.

By the way, the restaurant is not on 15th street; it's about a block, block and a half down on 14th Terrace.

The nostalgic reason: I grew up at the two-story penthouse apartments at West Avenue and 15th Street (NE corner), a block or so from the old Gatti's restaurant and well remember all the comings and goings of, as Baron G's website mentions, the famous and infamous people. The cars, the clothes, the women(!!!) were impressive to a kid. Enjoy.

I agree with MIA247- I also would like to add that Barton G on West Ave and 15th is amazing and romantic. They have a seafood appetizer that is quite famous among us locals. :-) Have fun!!1
