RETAINER HELP?!!!!!!!?

well i didint wear my retainer for a while last month and when i put them back in, they could barely fit and hurt... well over the past couple days, after slowly progressing to make them fit all the way (im still not there,) i was wondering if my teeth were moving or if it was just my retainer slowing being mooshed to the size of my mouth

also, i can only put one back side of my retainer down all the way and the other is up so its kinda like this / (not that severe) well basicly my question is how do you know when its fully fitted? like does it have to be in a perfectly straight line?

  1. If it goes on at all, wear it. Go ahead and make and appointment if you can, but they may say continue wearing it and it will fit eventually, OR they may say we have to make a new one. If they make a new one it's gonna cost ya. I was told to wear retainers for the rest of your life. You don't have to wear it every single night, but you do have to wear it every single week for sure. I wear mine most every night. And yes, your teeth will try to return to their original place, but if you wear your retainer, this will keep it from doing that by retaining the position your orthodontist felt they should be at. Wear it, you'll be glad you did.

  2. When you don't wear it like you should your teeth shift. Don't do that.  You have it for a reason.

  3. Retainer follow up visits should be included in the fee you paid for your braces,  so the best thing to do is let your orthodontist take a look at it,  and let him alter it.     It is possible you have outgrown your retainers,   and by cramming them back in you could actually be making your teeth go uneven.     If they are uneven in the back,   you could be changing your bite,  so I wouldn't recommend it.

Your ortho can adjust the retainer to fit better,  and thus make it a lot less painful too.    By cramming it in yourself,  you have no idea if you are doing good or bad to your teeth.

  4. I Think You Need To See Your Orthodontist, They Are The Experts So You Cant Force The Retainer To Fit, Its Obviously Going To Make Your Teeth Shift A Little
