I DID A SEMESTER IN COLLEGE WHEN I GRADUATED HS AND I DIDN'T DO GOOD. NOW I NEED TO GET MY STUFF TOGETHER AND GET MY DEGREE...HOW CAN I BALANCE COLLEGE, WORK, AND MY SON IN SCHOOL? I'M SO SCARED. ANY ADVICE?

  1. Just start out lite. Take only 1 or 2 classes for your first semester. OR, better yet, see if the school offers any programs specifically for working adults. I know my Community College does. Your academic adviser/counselor should be able to help you set a schedule that will work for you.

  2. Don't type in all caps

  3. You and I actually have a lot in common actually. I am also 23 and have 2 young children ages 2 & 3. I also work full-time and since January of this year have been going to jr. college full-time. Everyone works at different rates I would suggest to begin school in winter and take one or two classes in order to get back into school mode. See where you stand in your academics and depending on your performance decide whether you want to go to school full-time or part-time. That's what I did and decided I could handle full-time and will get my AA next June and transferring to a 4-year university. I also have a 3.8 and will graduate with honors. There's a big benefit to going full-time because you'll finish faster. It all depends on you. The most important thing to do is work at your own pace. There is also a lot of financial aid available to you being a single mother. That's a very good decision you made to go back to school. Good Luck.
