REVISED: Fault codes : What do the fualt codes for failing SMOG Test mean: P0171 System too lean?

Question

For a Chevy Cavalier 2001:

What , as far as repairs and costs might be expected?

Respectively they are:

P0171 System too lean (Bank 1)

P0172 System too Rich (Bank 1)

P0440 EVAP Ctrl System Malfunction

P0130 02 Sensor Fault (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

In English?

Is there a code list somewhere that I can look these up with? Thanks?

PO130- could be reason for PO171 & PO172. If the O2 sensor is defective it cannot give correct reading. Bank 1 sensor 1 is the sensor at the inlet of the cat converter. Bank 1 is the side of engine that #1 cylinder is on.

PO440- could be a loose gas cap.

i would have to hook up a scan tool and see some things you defiinalty have an issue there

You would be alot better off and just have the vehicles computer completely scanned by a professional because sometimes one code will set off many other codes as well.
