We recently bought a new Grand Haven X16 by Viking trailer, it has a built in antenna for t.v . But I want to be able to hook it up through RCA cables, it has a standard RF-Coaxial (ya know: the pin, with the twisty thing around it) hookup, is there a RF-Coaxial- RCA adapter which i can get at walmart, superstore, etc.

(I live in Canada, so plz a Canadian store)

  1. This is what you need.

I assume whatever you want your antenna signal to connect to has an RCA Antenna input connector.

  2. Paul is correct.  Just hook it up to your TV and the TV will let you pick what channels you want.

Or - get a VCR and hook the antenna to the VCR - then use RCA cables to feed the TV. But you wont get any better picture or sound.

Why do you want to hook things with an RCA cable?  It is actually a horrible friction-fit connector that will likely come loose as you haul that trailer.  The "F" connector tightned down with a wrench a bit past finger tight will work much better.

  3. There are such adapters available and you can buy them at Radio Shack (I'm assuming you have Radio Shack in Canada).  However, like Paul said, this is not something you're likely to want to use unless you have a really unusual set-up where the RF input is using an RCA plug.  99.9% of TV's in the U.S. and Canada use F-connectors (pin with twisty) for RF input.

The adapters are available for things like scanners or handheld TVs which either have RCA or 1/8th inch mini plug RF inputs.

  4. There's no such thing. And, even if you made one yourself, it wouldn't work.

An RCA composite video cable carries the raw video signal to the video circuits in the TV. A coaxial RF cable carries a RF TV channel that has been modulated with the video and audio signals. It must be demodulated and the video detected to then be run to the TV's video circuits (that's what your TV tuner does).
