RFR and Ford test Propane Autogas F-250 on track – NASCAR news
NASCAR’s 2011 season is warming up with new rules and going-green evolution.
Racing cars are also regulated this season to use Ethanol E15. As this season comes to entertain, its fans will see more green methods to run. Ford Motor Company and ROUSH Clean Tech will run two Ford F-250 trucks fuelled by Propane Autogas system
in emergency vehicle fleet on track, throughout 2011 season.
“NASCAR is famous for serving as a proving ground for new technology,” said Jack Roush. “It is a privilege to show race fans and the sport what we at ROUSH CleanTech know about clean alternative fuels. Propane autogas is already the third most widely
used fuel in the world. It’s readily available in the U.S., and we’re ready to test it as a workhorse on the track this season.”
NASCAR is looking to push it efforts in racings and beyond racetracks. It includes switching to Sunoco Green E15 its three national series made by American ethanol. It extends to recycle all tyres, oils, fluids, and batteries used during races, affecting
the biggest recycling event in sports. NASCAR is also launching tree plantation program to reduce the effects produced by Sprint Cup Series racing. A LEED certification is in pipeline for new office buildings in Charlotte and Daytona Beach.
“Green is not an exclusively NASCAR-led initiative,” said Dr. Mike Lynch, managing director of green innovation for NASCAR. “It takes the efforts of our entire industry contributing to and collaborating on new initiatives such as this.”
By ROUSH Propane Autogas powered vehicles will be lower in emissions fuel costs and maintaining factory’s warranty and brand’s durability. It has also revealed that it produces up to 24% less greenhouse gasses and fewer particulate emissions. The research
has proved it burns cleaner than gasoline or diesel with up to 20% less Nitrogen Oxide, up to 60% less Carbon Monoxide.
ROUSH has expanded fleet of alternative fuel powered by Propane Autogas system for Ford trucks and vans. ROUSH CleanTech system will be available in factory models as an optional fuel system in Ford’s F-250 and F-350 Super-Duty Trucks by 2012 models.
