CSKA Moscow’s President has said that the executive committee of the Russian football union will abandon the limit on foreign players playing in the Russian Premier League
CSKA Moscow president, Yevgeni Giner, has confirmed that the Russian Football Union (RFU) is considering abolishing the limit on foreign players for the next two years.
The 52-year-old said that the limit on foreign players will be cancelled sooner rather than later and backed the Russian football union to consider other forms of regulation of foreign footballers playing in the Russian Premier
League.
Giner said that the clubs should stop worrying about a proposed limit on the number of foreign players at least for now, saying that he along with the senior officials are supporting the idea of inviting more players from outside

According to the Moscow-based club’s president, the decision to lift the limit on foreign players in the Russian championship was taken by the senior members of the executive committee.
However, the Russian national refused to specify when and where did they hold the private meeting.
Giner told 'Sports-Express' that such restrictions on foreign players do not exist in other developing countries and insisted that such policies can become a stumbling block in development of football.
Reputed Russian football functionaries had previously urged the decisive committee to consider tightening the rules on putting a limit on foreigners. They said that such a policy may affect the Russian national team’s success in
the near future.
The Russian outfits were restricted to name more than six foreigners in the squad sheet by the executive committee in the past. However, Giner expressed his joy telling that the committee have now changed their mind about putting
a limit on foreigners.
“We held a formal meeting with the executive committee of the Russian Football Union and decided to abolish the limit on the foreign players for an unspecified time period," CSKA president was quoted as saying.
