Question:

RH Negative Women How was your pregnancy? ?

Well I've finally stopped taking birth control as we have made the decision to try for a baby = )

I asked a question the other day about this (rh- situation) and I've been doing research but can't seem to find anything that explains how bad I felt in my first pregnancy 7 years ago (I was 17 and miscarried at 13 weeks because I didn't realise I was RH- and developed antibodies which rejected the fetus - Same partner as now - he is positive I am negative and I'm worried the same thing could occur)

How was your pregnancy compared to rh + friends? is it just the first 3 months that is horrible?

I don't want to talk to my mum yet as she will be too excited and none of my friends have had kids and most are single or having too much fun and to be honest, think I'm a bit weird to want to start a family at 24.. I wish I had some friends that were mums to talk to!

So I understand and have read every pregnancy is different but I am concerned as I was so sick I couldn't work and this will change things.

Could it just be me and have nothing to do with being rh-?

To give you a idea - I lost 10 kilos in 3 months as I couldn't keep anything even water some days down, and couldn't function normally or do much at all.

  1. Your blood type has nothing to do with how you feel.  It's normal to feel like c**p during pregnancy.  If you already have antibodies then chances are, unfortunately that the same thing will happen again.  You can recieve shots to stop from forming antibodies but they can't do anything about the ones you already have.  There is a chance your baby could be negative too but not very likely.  Best you can do is pray.

  2. I have had a perfectly healthy pregnancy. I have chosen not to have the Rhogam shots prenatally. If the baby has positive blood when its born, I will get the shot then.

  3. I am rh- and I had some pretty severve morning sickness that went into my 2nd trimester. But my dr never said that is was from me being rh-. I guess it is possible but I can't say for sure. Make sure to get a rhogam(sp?) shot around 28 weeks and you should be fine. Talking to your dr may help ease your mind, he should be able to help you know whats going on. I lost 20 lbs in the first few months of my pregancy and now i am 38 weeks and everything is going good. Best of luck and congrats!

  4. I am rh- and the docs just gave me an anti d (injection to prevent my body from any infection or rejecting the baby) but that wasnt until about 26 weeks and i am due to have the 2nd round tomorrow.  I think (not 100% sure) that they will give me another one after i have given birth so that when we have other babies my body will not reject them either.

My partner is negative also so i guess that made it a little better as i havnt had any problems.  I was horribly ill in the first trimester, felt like fainting all the time and nauteous- but luckily no vomiting.  Now i have 5 1/2 weeks to go i am tired all the time but other than that nothing unusual.

Perhaps speak to your doctor about the anti -d (thats just how my doc refers to it i'm not exactly sure on the real name- some sort of antibodies) ask him/her about it before you start trying maybe they can give you an injection earlier to prevent from a repeat miscarriage.

Sorry i dont know if i have helped.

Good luck i hope all works out well for you and your partner
