  1. RIP Phil Hill,  I can only presume Max Moseley wished it was Jackie Stewart. .

Heads up to Julian for mentioning 'Grand Prix: The movie' The thought that Jim Rockford could fit his huge frame into an F1 car was laughable

The next gp is the race I look forward to every year, the glorious but curtailed Spa Francorchamps. It's one of the races, along with Suzuka, that makes me love this sport when I think i'm sick of all the c**p :-)

  2. Requiescat im Pace Phil Hill.

I think the top American Driver was Dan Gurney. Hill was great but he only managed to win 3 races in F1.

I think Singapore might be spectacular, however I expected so much from Valencia and it turned out to be a parade.

  3. RIP

    Spa! I'm going :-)

EDIT: thanks Headsiwin. I'm a bit nervous about getting there and actually finding the circuit but it should be a fun weekend :-)

EDIT: To Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro - we're in Silver 2 just before eau rouge :-)

  4. Phil was a shoot from the hip type of guy. He always told it the way it was. Straightforward and direct.

    RIP.

Spa and Singapore. The Valencia race was the worse I have seen in the past 10 years and that's not an exaggeration. I hope the street circuit in Singapore will allow for overtaking.

  5. .

F1 Driver's Champion with Ferrari in '61. He won Le Mans a few times if I recall correctly too. RIP. Great man.

You are so lucky Emma. Best track IMO in F1....Enjoy!

EDIT: You'll be fine Emma, but take a brolly.

Good to see you back Rosbif. Good holiday(?)

    .

  6. Yeah RIP, there will no doubt be a tribute, either at the next gp, or the italian one.

And to answer the question, Spa.

EDIT (To Emma): what granstand are you in? I'm at silver 5 (Or the Pouhon corner)

  7. Great shame, the only American born world champion too. ( Mario Andretti born in Italy). 81 years old. He did the driving for the film Grand prix, a great racing film, if old now.

Personally Dan Gurney ( agree with Ciccio), I feel was better but that's my own opinion and I'm not taking anything away form Phil Hill, 3 times Le mans winner.

I'm looking forward to Spa, Eau Rouge is a great corner, hope for a little of the wet stuff, too.

  8. RIP Phil Hill! :( He will be truly missed!

I'm looking forward to Spa! I hope Fernando has a better race!

  9. Really nice bloke who lucked into his title after the death of von Trips at Monza. The title was a well-merited long service award, as he'd done years of hard work in lesser formulae for Ferrari before he got his chance in F1. Not in the class of Andretti or Gurney as a driver, but in the class of anybody as a man. (Yes, I know that Andretti was born in Croatia/Italy depending on which map you use, and so doesn't really qualify as "American-born"...)

To answer the "question", Spa, as it is every year.

  10. All of the circuit !! I love them
