The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heracles-Almelo-c39520 boss is looking to guide his side to victory in the Europa League play-offs before leaving to coach Roda JC Kerkrade this summer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370 head coach, Ruud Brood, is confident that his side can claim victory over FC Twente Enschede in the first round of Europa League play-offs.
After winning the Eerste Divisie title in the 2010/11 season, nobody was expecting that RKC would be competing for a spot to play in the Europe’s second-tier competition.
However, the Waalwijk outfit stunned every Dutch top flight club to finish in the top nine Eredivisie outfits, and now they are aiming to play in Europe next term.
Brood has expressed confidence in his side’s abilities, though, he has admitted that it will not be an easy task to emerge victorious against the Enschede giants in the first round of the play-offs.
“Not long ago, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roda-JC-c40375 this term”, Brood
was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
The Tukkers were in the race for the title for majority of the 2011/12 season, but their erratic showings in the final few weeks of the campaign dropped them to a sixth spot.
The Dutch mentor went on to praise his side’s efforts throughout the season that kept their European aspirations alive.
“I am very relieved. I wish all the fans for their constant support. If you look where we were at the beginning of the season and where we have managed to finish, it is quite amazing”, Brood concluded.
The 49-year-old tactician, who has been leading the Waalwijk outfit since the 2008/09 season, will be replacing Harm van Veldhoven at Roda JC Kerkrade before the start of the 2012/13 season.
He would be keen to finish his four-year tenure at RKC on a high with a win in the play-offs.
RKC will lock horns against FC Twente in the first-leg of the Europa League play-offs first round at Mandemakers Stadion on Friday, May 11.
