However, the former Feyenoord Rotterdam player has admitted that failing to earn Europe’s second tier competition berth is a little a disappointing after coming this far.
The Waalwijk outfit lifted the Eerste Divisie title in the 2010/11 season and earned direct promotion to play in the highest echelons of Dutch football.
Despite failing to impress early on in the season, RKC grinded out consistent results and managed to finish ninth on the Eredivisie table to participate in the Europa League play-offs.

“Of course, it is annoying to lose out after coming this far. This is unfortunate. However, I just congratulate all the players. They gave everything throughout the season. All in all, this was a fantastic season and we can be
very proud”, Brood was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The 49-year-old tactician will be leaving the managerial hot seat at Mandemakers Stadion to lead http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roda-JC-c40375 Kerkrade before the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
The Dutch mentor has revealed that he will always remember his four-year stay in Waalwijk and is leaving with a heavy heart.
“For me, it is extremely difficult to say goodbye. I have four years at this club and it will always remain close to my heart”, Brood concluded.
