  1. Yeah, it really wasn't a computer fight though.  During the time Ali was banned from boxing they filmed a fake dream fight between he and Marciano with different finishes.  I dont remember all the details anymore though but it would have been in the late 60's.

  2. You gotta be like......................12 if you never heard of this fight.  Like many here have said it was staged in 1969 shortly before Rocky died in a plane crash.

Little known fact:  There were actually TWO results released.  In the US Rocky was declared the winner by 13th round KO.  There was another released in the UK where ALI was still very well liked.  The result of that fight was ALI by TKO in 13.  He stopped Rocky on cuts.

It just goes to show that, espically then,  Computers do only what Humans PROGRAM them to do.   You have to understand the time.    ALI was NOT very well admired as he would come to be around the time of his fight with George Forman.

Marciano, on the other hand, was very well liked.   In the US there is NO WAY the Powers That Be would have allowed a film of ALI defeating Marciano to be shown in public.

  3. Hi,

During Ali's exile from boxing from '67-'70, he engaged in a computer fight with former champion Rocky Marciano, since Ali was undefeated and Rocky retired undefeated.  Rocky was so motivated he lost 50 lbs and bought a new toupee for the occasion.  They spared many rounds and even connected with some solid shots on each other.  Rocky apparently whacked Ali with some painful body shots and Ali responded with an uppercut that lifted Rocky's toupee off of his head.  In the end, the computer declared that Rocky would win by 13th round KO.  Many feel that since Rocky perished in a plane crash shortly before the fight was released, he was declared the winner for sentimental reasons.

In Rocky Balboa, they used computer graphics for both fighters while in the Ali-Marciano dream match, they used clips of both fighters actually in the ring together.  You can find it on youtube or ebay.

  4. Yeah there was, Rocky was retired, Ali was banned from boxing so they decided to get money by making a dream computer fight in order to predict who would win, although i feel it was inaccurate.

  5. yes there was a computer fight but I'm pretty sure they didn't show that in the rocky movie. they did show a computer fight of rocky versus the other guy in the movie and the idea for that came from the Ali vs Marciano computer fight

  6. Yes, there was, and there was a movie that came out just for the computer fight.  Marciano got in shape and sparred a whole bunch of rounds with Ali.  They filmed a whole bunch of different scenarios, but the computer determined that Rocky Marciano would have knocked Muhammad Ali out in the 13th round.  They came up with the conclusion by putting all of their stats into the computer, and the computer came up with that result.  Ali later said that "The computer must have been made in Alabama."
