ROGERS first 3 months?

i recently heard that for ANY rogers plan that you sign up for they give u the first 3 months free, unlimited calling and texting

IS THIS TRUE?

I just recently got my cell phone today from rogers, and the guy said that my first 3 months were free. But I couldn't call / text after 12. My friend had this too, and we have different plans, so I'm pretty sure that every plan has the first 3 months free. :)
