ROTC or NROTC?

I'm looking into ROTC and NROTC (Marine). I'm hoping to get a scholarship from one or the other. With which program will I have a better shot at getting a good scholarship?

Thanks.

  1. I 'won' an NROTC Scholarship (attended Miami University, Ohio) in  the fall of 1975. Unfortunately, at that time, being associated with the military (having a short hair cut, and wearing a Navy uniform to class on day a week) didn't go over too well on a college campus. I had a 4 yr scholarship, yet only took advantage of noe year (at that time you owed the military time if you did more than two years on scholarship and dropped it). Anyways, I dropped out of NROTC but finished at Miami with a B.S.

I'd vote NROTC. I had a great time when I was involved with it. (I was in the Exhibition Drill Team and got to enjoy the 1976 Mardi Gras in New Orleans (marched in several parades), and marched in the Bicentennial Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C. in April 1976).

  2. I'd say NROTC.  My cousin got a scholarship on the same thing.  Maybe because there are fewer Marines?  I'm not saying because it could be a 'rarer' deal.  Maybe there are more scholarships to give out.  Not sure.  Good luck anyways. Try to do some research. :)
