  1. Yes, obviously they feel safer with their car-jackings, rapes, and gated communities living in fear of robberies that prevail in their own country. Not to mention the private security firms that many households hire to protect them.

This whole thing is an insult to Pakistan. The countries pulling out are saying Pakistan are unable to provide adequate security for their players. They fail to recognise that their own countries also have problems.

Yes there are serious concerns for any Westerner travelling to Pakistan, and no one should go and assume that it is completely safe, as it is not. They should evaluate the security they have been offered, and take as many steps as is necessary to protect their players. This may mean taking their own security firms with them.

Is it right to boycott the Champions Trophy? Only if there is no alternative.

I am no expert in these matters, but I do feel that South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and England have no intentions of taking part anyway, and are using the security issue as a subterfuge to pull out.

  2. the writing was on the wall, i think England makes cricketing decisions for RSA and Australia also and all work togethor in conjunction !

Pakistan people are deprived of cricket !

    feel sad for them!

    god bless!

  3. They have made the only decision they can under the circumstances.

OZ, England make no decisions on any subject for Australia. We run our own country & make our own decisions. If you think back, you will remember it was an Australian who first spoke out about the matter( Symonds)

  4. It only goes on to say that p**i govt needs to get its act together, or else lose out to any sane minded people entering its walls. Who would want to compromise with their security?

  5. Who would want to play in a country that is probably only second to Iraq as the originator AND recipient of Islamic terrorism? One with a government that does not seem to be in control of anything?

Sorry guys from Pakistan, you will have to watch cricket on TV only! Get your house right and I am sure everybody will want to play ball with you.

  6. In the end, it all comes down to the frame of mind & if they're not convinced with Pak security, they have the right to pull out.

  7. Yes. RSA cricket board or any other cricket board has the right to pull out of the tournament under the pre-existing circumstances and the ICC already had given its No Objection for pulling out. If it was not for the BCCI, ICC would have shifted the tournament and long back. I think the tournament should not go ahead. It has lost its luster.

    edit: (23-Aug-08: 06:00 GMT)

Today, there was another suicide bombing in NWFP, this time Taliban claims responsibility; again aimed at the policemen, 8 cops killed.

Who still thinks South Africa has made the wrong decision?

  8. I agree with what 'The Oracle' has to say. There's safety risks in every country, you just need to take the right precautions.

Whether this decision is right or wrong, you can't really say but all i can say is I'm disapointed that RSA made this decision.

South Africa have done this before, a bomb went off in Sri Lanka and South Africa ran a mile, fair enough i guess but South Africa were never unsafe, it cost Sri Lanka a heap financially SL cricket board are broke at the momment, that tour could've made quite a difference right about now.

It's up to the cricket boards and players. If they don't want to go, then they should botcott the tournament and shut up. I agree with 'man behind the mask', it's hurting Pakistan in more ways than one.

If Pakistan guaruntee safety, they're gambling their reputation for ever if Pakistan really isn't safe. Why would Pakistan want to do that?

  9. its not right decision

  10. Yes .Cricketers should feel Free to play in a Country with out Fear

  11. These white countries are becoming snobbish.  Terrorism is an international problem now.  Bomb blasts can happen any part of the world.  No country can chicken out from such threats.

  12. I think its ridiculous for a team of one of the world's most dangerous countries to pull out of a competition because of "security" reasons. I am South African.

  13. Yes absolutely the correct decision , hopefully the other countries will also follow suit , This tournament is just a waste of time and has run its course

The world cup and now 20/20 are enough on top of the normal tests and one day internationals

  14. i think it is a wrong dicision

  15. It was just a matter of time, most will follow suit. I think awarding the games to Paktown in the midst of what has been happening lately was a bit dicey but then the ICC had to show support to Pakistan too. I think there should jave been measures put into place to say if this is the situation then we pull out or if the situation is as follows then we are all satisfied, but then the ICC doesn't always think that way hey! Lets face reality, more people were killed a day ago due to suicidal bombings and to say that the RSA team were given good security the last time out to Paktown is a bit irresponsible, that was one team, imagine being responsible for the security of eight teams in different locations in a raged environment? For the safety of the players, it is the right move but then we must all keep praying for Pakistan, this cannot be good for anyone.

  16. I think, They have right reasons
