Question:

RSPCA, blood sports and fox hunting?

Can you be an animal lover with a wish to work for the RSPCA and still not condone (not, I did not say"support") sports such as fox hunting, game shooting etc.?

I ask this because I have recieved a less-than-friendly email regarding my recent answer to someone asking what to wear to go foxhunting. By answering this I was neither condoning nor condemning the sport, I was simply telling her correct etiquette and dress wear. At the time I had a question open regarding a possible career as an RSPCA Inspector, I was advised by someone that I needed veterinary qualifications to which I replied that nowhere on the website does it say this. After all, if I'm going to train for several years to obtain these qualifications then I'm not going to be an RSPCA Inspector, I'm going to be a vet.

Just wondering about people's opinions on this matter!

  1. There.s nothing wrong with Fox Hunting have you seen a chicken coop after a fox has visited all dead with there heads bitten off they fox.s are pretty but vermin. The animal rights nutters have done there bit to ruin the countryside with letting loose mink and Wild Boar which is having devastating consequences to ground nesting birds .The worst culprit to garden birds is the house cat everyone should have  a bell round it.s neck and a law that they do to save our birds

  2. what ever your views on fox hunting it does not have to stop you being a good RSPCA inspector, i don't agree with hunting down a fox and blocking sets so it can't escape, but foxes are classed as vermin and having lost chickens to a fox (and it was not hunting for food as it left the carcasses)  i agree they do need to be controlled, you were just answering a question so should not get abuse for it, in Britain fox hunting with dogs is banned but hunting foxes in a fair manor is not, the person who sent you the mail has obviously not seen the damage a fox can do or had to clean up after they have had their fun try to ignore the ignorant people honey, your personal opinions should not effect the kind of inspector or vet you want to be, best of luck

  3. The RSPCA has had both Princess Anne and Prince Charles supporting it over the years.  Both are fox hunters so I have always regarded the organisation as bogus and hypocritical.

  4. yes you can.

im an animal lover and have ferrets to go rabbit hunting with, a terrier which if  needed i would take ratting... and have rescued animals from RSPCA and would like to work with them.. and my animals are some of the most spoilt and loved you would ever meet...
