Question:

RSS Feed invalid?

I belong to several yahoo groups and added some of them to MY Yahoo page under add content, add RSS feeds. The others gave a message that they have invalid RSS feeds. One of the groups moderator said he would look into it and see how he can make an rss feed. His concern was to be sure the group was still a membership only to post group.

  1. crazy_mom is correct that the message archives (ability to view old messages) must be set to Public for there to be an RSS feed for a Group.  But the ability to view old messages is different than the ability to post messages.  If the moderator you mentioned would set the Archive Access setting to Anyone and the Who Can Post a message setting to just Members, then it sounds like you both would be happy.

  2. it wont work otherwise-

it seems the archives have to be set to public

Why isn’t there an RSS feed for my group?

Since RSS is used as a way to read/aggregate public content on the web, this feature is only available for groups with messages set to "public" (no membership required).
