RSVP card - Canada to US?

Question

I am from the US, and I am sending out RSVP's with prestamped envelopes for convenience for my friends. Some of my friends live in Canada, can I use normal United states stamps on the envelopes that will be sent from Canada back to me?

I know I would need to put more than the normal $0.41 stamp rate, I'm just wondering if I could use the US ones.

no... you can not use US postage for mail sent FROM Canada.  Go to a post office and get international stamps that can be used instead and can be mailed from anywhere. Check with the post office.   I am not sure these type of stamps exist any longer.

if you put a US stamp for a card that is going to be mailed FROm Canada it will have to be replaced with Canadian postage.  This has happened to me often.

To mail a card from Canada to the USA costs 93 cents for regular mail.

If you really want to do this, you need to get Canadian postage stamps. as reported it is 93 cents to mail from canada to US. If you've got a couple of weeks you can go to the canadapost.ca website and phone an order in to them for XX 93c stamps. Your credit card will be charged and there will be no shipping charge. that is the cheapest way to do it. You could also ask one of you Cdn friends to send you the stamps you need.

You could also go to a local stamp dealer, who could probably sell you what you need (at about $1.20 per stamp probably).

The US post office *might* have what is called an International Reply Coupon, which costs quite a bit (~2.00) and your friends can take that to a Cdn post office in exchange for one 93c stamp.

I think your Cdn friends would understand if you did not stamp their envelope.
