RV Microwave/Convection by Panosonic Model NN-8501V, touch controls go crazy when cold, indicating the AUTO DEF button is in continuous contact. CLEAR/STOP only works for a second and then AUTO DEF starts again, beeping continuously (I disconnect power cord at night to avoid be awakened by beeping). Use of a hair dryer to warm up the touch pad solves the problem until the outside exhaust allows cool air to reduce keypad temperature (I now keep the outside exhaust vent closed except when cooking). The unit was made Aug 1994)Can the touch pad be fixed (there is no obvious way to pull it off before taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet in the RV)? Or must the touch pad be replaced? If yes, can I do it myself? (I am fairly handy with tools and even a soldering iron)Or is it easier/less expensive to replace the whole microwave (finding that model or a similar size model to fit the built in opening in the RV might be difficult though I am in Yuma AZ where thee are lots of RVers RV stores)?I joined FixYa and did get a reply from an earlier request that I was being contacted separately but no email or phone message has been received.
