I wanna transfer to Rutgers, but currently,I'm just not good enough. I wonder if RVCC is a good school that will do help? I want to attend that school for one year or two, and then transfer. Is RVCC a good choice anyway? Or anyone has any other suggestions? (maybe not so far from Newark?)

  1. Any of the community colleges in New Jersey would be a good choice if you hope to transfer to Rutgers. The community colleges in NJ tend to be of good quality. Go there, and do well, and you will be able to transfer.

I don't know which cc is closest to Newark, but here is a map that shows them all, so you can find those closest to you:

If you get to community college and realize that you're struggling, get tutoring right away. Don't wait until you fail an exam - get help right away. It's there for you. Use it.

Once you get to campus, make an appointment to speak to your academic advisor, so you can tell her you hope to transfer to Rutgers. She can guide you in what courses and so on you'll need to be able to transfer.

  2. Yup, it's a good school, but when you go, apply yourself very seriously, see a guidance councilor work hard, and GET GOOD GRADES!!!!  After you have about 21 good credits under your belt, apply for a transfer to Rutgers.  Rutgers is pretty competitive, but you can do it if you work harder than the next guy and get the good grades.

  3. A couple of points:

You have a CC in Newark, in University Heights.  Union County CC (near RU and NJIT).  If you want to go further away from Newark, RVCC is an excellent choice, and pretty easy to get to from Rte 78.  It has a really nice campus too, but the Out of County tuition is higher than if you lived in Hunterdon or Somerset.

According to State policy in NJ, you are guaranteed admission to a state school (not necessarily Rutgers, but some 4 year school) if you graduate a NJ Community College.  I transferred from RVCC to RU, so it isn't that hard.

    Good Luck!!!
