I'm from Jersey and also would never go there for New Years'.  I would like to go someplace warm where I can be outside and see fireworks!  I bet Miami Beach is fun, go for it!

Pay for one of the Sheraton Times Square Hotels (they're right across the street from each other). It's a long night on the hard sts of Manhattan. Make sure you're young and strong enough if you're going to do it on the street!!!
