RYA’s Mark Emmett and Allan Stuart win 2012 B14 TT Series Leg 2 at Stokes Bay – Sailing News
A light and cold northerly shifting wind welcomed the B14 Flying Circus at Stokes Bay to begin the second leg of the 2012 B14 TT Series. The fleet was confident for a complete sail during the regatta and had a superb competition.
After a successful completion of scheduled races, Royal Yachting Association’s Mark Emmett, along with his crew member Allan Stuart, was able to clinch the leg title with 20 points after sailing in eight races including a discard.
Wind conditions fluctuated during the regatta which troubled the fleet a bit but that was not something that could abandon any race. The sailors had to come up with a new tactic to cope with the shifting wind conditions on Stokes Bay as the breeze pushed
the participants hard and put them under immense pressure.
The initial races of the regatta seemed to be a battle royal all day because the whole fleet was trying to grab an early lead in the regatta. However, things got clear after a couple of races in the beginning and the spectators witnessed the regatta leaders.
Start of the regatta for Emmett and Stuart was not very impressive as they finished on low podium places in the early races which dropped them down. However, after that some top finishes and a bullet during their regatta campaign brought them on top of the
fleet again. With the help of a discard race, they finally managed to hit the winning podium.
